How to apply

To request the suspension of an on-street parking space, send your request to suspension.dispensation@newham.gov.uk, clearly stating details of where, when and quantity required.

Parking suspensions require 5 days’ lead-in time for processing. More is preferred so please get it in as soon as you can.

Charges

The cost of any given suspension varies by area.

All suspension requests are subject to a £25 administration fee.

Suspensions in Council-owned car parks are charged according to the tariff of that particular car park. There is also a one-off administration charge of £25.

*The bay suspension charges directly reflect the hourly charge of a Pay & Display ticket, and therefore, in CPZs where it is permit holders only, there is no bay charge.

Dispensations

The Council has the authority to issue a Parking Dispensation Notice which will allow a vehicle to park on a yellow line or in a parking bay for a specified period of time.

A parking dispensation allows vehicles to park in a restricted area in circumstances where the vehicle needs to be close to a specific location.

Dispensations will usually be granted where waiting/loading cannot be carried out:

1. Without the use of a vehicle;
2. Outside the hours when the restrictions apply;
3. By correctly using a permitted parking place in the vicinity of, but not immediately adjacent to, the destination.

Parking dispensations are usually only issued to vehicles of transit size or over. If more than one vehicle is required on site, separate dispensations should be obtained for each vehicle (subject to street space).

Requests for dispensations have to be made in writing to the Film Office (address below). With your request, please include the following information:

1. Precise location including street, postcode, street numbers, i.e. "John Street, E15, outside numbers 24-26");
2. The required duration of the dispensation;
3. Explanation as to why your activity requires dispensation as opposed to any other measure.

Please allow at least 5 working days for your request to be processed. Dispensations can be valid for up to 3 months.

Please note that each request will be considered carefully and all requests are subject to approval from the Central Service Manager for Parking.

Dispensations cost £50.00 for up to three days and £200.00 for three months per vehicle.
